Welcome to our fourth DETOUR! This year, for the first time, we’re very excited to be hosting a wide range of inspiring events at a one-of-a-kind, heritage anchor site – the Former Police Married Quarters on Hollywood Road that has a distinctive 1950s vibe. Thanks to financial support from the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau and venue support from the Development Bureau, DETOUR 2009 has created a unique platform for local, up-and-coming creative talents to showcase their work to the public, as well as to engage the community’s creative energy. We are also delighted to have the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong as our partner.

This year, our aim was to create an engaging environment for artists, designers and the creative public to congregate and interact. Not only will the anchor site host exhibitions and events, from November 26 to December 9, we hope that it becomes the design lounge of Hong Kong, where creative minds can come together, relax on De(tour on the) Beach underneath a stunning bamboo installation and exchange ideas. In addition to the anchor site, we have also put together a vast array of satellite events all around Hong Kong. DETOUR aims to both educate and entertain. But ultimately, we hope that DETOUR is just a conversation starter. After all, design is everywhere we care to see it.showroom. Winners of the 2007 Asia awards will showcase their works until the 14th December and those who bagged the awards in 2008 will display their creations from 16th December to 31st December.
