Let Hong Kong Ambassadors of Design (HKAoD) take you on a creative, and not-so-useless detour around the theme Use-Less. Dedicated to highlighting the impacts of irresponsible consumerism, DETOUR 2011 brings together an unprecedented lineup of creative concepts that stimulates conversation and inspires eco-living.
Over the course of 17 days, DETOUR attempts to juxtapose right and wrong, eco and wasteful — through an exciting mix of exhibitions, installations, performances, conferences, workshops and forums at the Former Police Married Quarters, together with a host of satellite events around town.
This isn't just another arty perspective on the imminent need to reduce, reuse and recycle; but a showcase of creativity, knowledge and attitude towards the subject. After all, we are all consumers. We consume and produce waste — and the cycle continues. Do you use-less, or are you useless?
